The Clement

Located in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley—Palo Alto, The Clement is the hotel like no other. It carries a distinguished look that fits perfectly within this posh Stanford University neighborhood. The four-story structure has more of an understated feel of a luxury co-op with a simple, elegant sign displaying the name of the property. Arriving at the front door, guests quickly start to realize that this is no ordinary property. As the door gets opened by one of the hotel’s personal concierges, the traditional registration desk is notably absent. The entire registration process is more reminiscent of visiting a friend’s home than checking into a public space. A warm, personable greeting awaits while guests are comfortably seated in the lobby. Subsequently, they are swiftly offered a beverage of their choice, coffee, tea, soft drinks, wine or a lovely signature cocktail from the menu.

Beyond the lobby is the hotel’s “living room.” This large area with comfortable seating and beautiful décor, that includes artwork and a collection of guitars, (which guests are free to use!) naturally facilitates a feeling of being home away from home. Further along, a dining room leads to an open kitchen, where guests can watch their meals being prepared by world-class fine-dining chefs, whose official titles are “culinary concierges.”

Dining at the Clement is as unique as it gets. All meals and drinks are included. The kitchen staff is available until 10pm to prepare meals from the menu or to accommodate custom requests. Options include scrumptious dishes such as gazpacho, poke nachos, ribeye steaks and rack of lamb. Additionally, The Clement includes a kitchen pantry that is stocked with drinks, snacks, and divine organic ice cream; available to guests 24-hours a day.

The Clement offers two room types—a one-bedroom suite and a slightly smaller single bedroom. Both are equipped with king-sized beds, flat screen TVs, refrigerators, and beautiful stone lined bathrooms with soaking tubs. Other hotel amenities include a small, but well-equipped workout facility, and a beautiful rooftop deck that features a pool, a hot tub, and several private cabanas. The entire menu of drinks and dishes is available poolside.

With everything the hotel offers, the staff is a real standout. This cohesive team has intimate knowledge of how to make every guest feel right at home. Upon arrival, the concierge makes it clear that the staff is here to accommodate any reasonable request. Their versatility seems endless and appears effortless: expert bartender…server…bellhop, any aspect of guest’s needs is covered. Each staff member is courteous and offers seamless service. At any point, one may notice a concierge mixing a cocktail while the chef clears a table or delivers a meal to the rooftop.

The idea is to entirely remove all stress from all aspects of a hotel stay and to meet every guest’s need or want to the nth degree. Once you arrive, you become so well cared for, you never want to leave. Several couples and families encountered were long-term guests, ranging in weeks-long stays to months. Their feedback demonstrated that they could not be happier and felt that this was “their own 20,000 sq. feet home.”

The Clement is a compelling example of how to over-deliver in amenities and guest experience. A model for everything that is right with the world of accommodations, service and on-site dining, it will redefine your prior perspectives and expectations.

The hotel is elegant, yet quite comfortable. The artwork is exceptionally tasteful, the décor well-appointed, and welcoming. The intimate sitting area, the understated, yet blissfully cozy patio; the guitar collection casually displayed in the “living room” – all make one feel as if they are visiting old friends.

The rooms have everything one needs and more. In addition to the usual amenities, there is a deep soaking bathtub, fully stocked refrigerator, and unexpectedly, office/techno-gadgets that every business traveler appreciates.

Beyond perfect.

Some examples—if you are a runner, you will be supplied with a running/walking map of local trails already available. Love craft cocktails? There is a selection of stellar spirits and a list of artisanal libations that await your selection. Foodie? The chefs who trained at the finest restaurants in the country are on stand-by to whip up a delicious, healthy, flavor-forward, decadent meal of your choice. Or, and be prepared to be asked if it should be served table or poolside…

Location and environment

Within a short walk to the upscale Stanford Shopping Center, hospital and university campuses, moments from Palm Bay, The Clement provides a comfortable business stay or a weekend escape right in the center of the tech capital of the United States.

Special/unique features

The all-inclusive concept of The Clement is somewhat reminiscent of select Caribbean resorts, yet is so much more. It is carried out in exceptionally detailed, distinctly professional and highly competent manner.

Dining and beverage options cannot be overstated.

Additionally, there is a highly functional boardroom available to guests, where one can arrange a business meeting or a small private gathering of family and friends.
